That's good Deb, thanks. Tomma and I are learning about Dynamic Facilitation, a way of communicating where a group decides on a topic, then goes deep on it, person by person, through a facilitator who mirrors everything each speaker says to make sure it was heard correctly (a form of active listening) and the point each speaker makes is written on a big pad for later refinement and distribution.
Big keys to success include no crosstalk, no rebuttal directly to a previous speaker... Everything is directed toward the facilitator, who interacts with each speaker in turn and in effect runs the process.
A foundation of the protocol is that everyone who is there knows they will be heard, but not drowned out, overpowered, talked down to or marginalized - ie, simply heard.
We meet every other week at Christiana Wall's house in Hawthorne Valley. You'd be welcome if you're interested. It's a fascinating process that is needed in our time of rampant, East's-plugged "yelling". It's a way for all of us to hear each other, by taking the time and caring enough to do so. Cheers Jim
Okay, my bag, Tomma reminds me Christiana won't be doing it for awhile as she's soon traveling.
But! Rosa Zubizarretta , her mentor, leads groups in GB intermittently. If anyone is interested, i will find out more.
My experience after doing DF three times: hearts open, souls relax, amazing depth comes out, bird by bird by bird. It's like a group writing something in collaboration, rather than a competition won by the loudest and most aggressive in order to"win" a debate.
